Yugoslavia postage stamps year 2002 Definitive Issues set MNH
The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FR Yugoslavia) issued several definitive postage stamps in 2002, which were part of two ongoing definitive series: the Fountains series and the Monasteries series. Additionally, a set of Definitive Issues without value was released.
2002 Definitive Issues
1. Fountains Series
This definitive set, which began in 1992, saw its final issues in 2002. These stamps featured various fountains located throughout the country.
- Issue Dates in 2002: The final stamps in this long-running definitive series were released in 2002.
- Theme: Fountains (specifically, Serbian and Montenegrin fountains, as the country had been reduced to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) at this time).
- The final issue date for the Fountains series was November 28, 2002.
2. Monasteries Series
This series, which began in 1994, also had issues released in 2002, depicting historical and cultural significant Monasteries.
- Issue Dates in 2002: Stamps from this series were issued during the year.
- Theme: Monasteries (featuring architectural and religious sites).
- The final issue date for the Monasteries series was December 19, 2002.
3. Definitive Issues Without Value
A set of stamps was also released in 2002 that had no printed face value. These stamps were meant for the basic international (A) and domestic (B) tariffs, a practice often adopted when inflation or currency changes are anticipated.
- Theme: These stamps are often referred to as “Definitive Issues without value” or non-denominated definitives.
It’s important to note that the country officially changed its name to the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro on February 4, 2003, and the stamps issued in early 2003 reflected this change. Therefore, the 2002 issues were among the last definitive stamps released under the name Yugoslavia (Jugoslavija).
