Netherlands postage stamps year 1958 Provincial Costumes set
In 1958, the Netherlands issued a set of semi-postal stamps known as the “Provincial Costumes” series, designed by Hubert Levigne. This collection features five stamps, each depicting traditional attire from different Dutch regions:
- 4c + 4c: Showcases the costume of Walcheren.
- 6c + 4c: Highlights the traditional dress of Marken.
- 8c + 4c: Features the attire from Hindeloopen.
- 12c + 9c: Depicts the costume of Friesland.
- 30c + 9c: Illustrates the traditional clothing of Volendam.
These semi-postal stamps were sold with a surcharge, with the additional funds allocated to cultural and social relief projects.
This series not only serves as a postal artifact but also offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and traditional attire of the Netherlands’ diverse regions.
