The 1932 Italy “Dante Alighieri Society” set (Pro Società Dante Alighieri) is a celebrated commemorative issue honoring Italian literature and the promotion of Italian culture globally. This set consists of two main groups:
- Regular postage stamps: 12 values, featuring portraits of Italy’s greatest writers and poets, such as Giovanni Boccaccio, Machiavelli, Paolo Sarpi, and Dante Alighieri himself.
- Airmail stamps: 6 values, similarly themed and highly collectible, including high denominations with artistic depictions (for instance, Leonardo da Vinci on the 100 lire airmail).
The complete set consists of 18 stamps (12 regular + 6 airmail). All were issued for the benefit of the Società Dante Alighieri, which fosters Italian language and cultural heritage abroad.
