SG 438 – 1929 £1 Postal Union Congress
- It was issued in 1929 to commemorate the Universal Postal Union Congress held in London and is only the second British commemorative stamp ever released.
- The stamp was designed by Harold Nelson, approved by Queen Mary (since King George V was ill), and engraved by J.A.C. Harrison, printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co .
- Only 61,000 stamps of this issue were printed—very low compared to ordinary issues like the Penny Black—making it particularly scarce.
- The stamp features a unique GvR Royal Cypher watermark, distinguishing it from other series
