Croatia postage stamps year 2003 Famous Croats MNH
In 2003, Croatia issued postage stamps as part of a “Famous Croats” series, commemorating notable figures from Croatian history and culture. Two highlighted stamps from that year are:
- Hanibal Lucić, a significant Croatian poet and playwright, commemorated on the 450th anniversary of his death with a stamp valued at 2.30 HRK. The design was created by O. Franković and I. Vučić.
- Federiko Benković, a renowned painter, was also commemorated with a stamp marking the 250th anniversary of his death, valued at 5.00 HRK, designed by the same artists.
These stamps celebrate important cultural contributions by Croatian historical figures and form part of ongoing philatelic series recognizing notable Croats through the years. Other notable Croats have also been featured in various stamps, but these two are distinct recognitions from 2003.
