Netherlands year 1910/40 Used stamps
The Netherlands (Holland) issued many beautiful and historically significant stamps during the 1910-1940 period. Here are some of the notable Dutch stamp issues from those decades:
1910s
- 1913 Independence Issue – Marked 100 years since the Netherlands gained independence from France. Featured allegorical female figures.
- 1920 Airmail Stamps – Early aviation-themed airmail stamps, including a 75c blue showing an aviator.
1920s
- 1923 Queen Wilhelmina Definitive Series – Long-running definitive set depicting the reigning Queen in different portrait styles.
- 1927 Red Cross Semi-Postal – Surcharged stamp funding the Red Cross society, showing a nurse and children.
1930s
- 1933 Air Voyage to the West Indies – Commemorated the first flight Amsterdam to the Dutch West Indies. Planes over map design.
- 1937 Royal Household Order Stamps – Special postage dues inscribed “Wapenzegels” for underpaid domestic mail.
- 1939 German Occupation Overprints – During WWII occupation, existing stamps overprinted with swastika emblem and “Netherland” inscription.
