Yugoslavia year 1982 Military ships and war planes stamps set
Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia issued a commemorative set in 1982 to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Yugoslav Air Force and Navy during World War II.
This set is what is typically referred to as the “Military Ships and War Planes” stamps.
🎖️ Stamp Details: Air Force and Navy 40th Anniversary
The complete set consists of four different values (4v), with two stamps dedicated to historical aircraft and two dedicated to naval vessels.
✈️ Aircraft (Air Force)
The stamps featuring aircraft showcased historical planes used by the Partisan and pre-war forces:
- Breguet 19 (Biplane): A French biplane used by the Royal Yugoslav Air Force and later by the Partisan Air Force, often used for reconnaissance and light bombing.
- Potez 25 (Biplane): Another French biplane used by the Royal Yugoslav Air Force.
🚢 Naval Vessels (Navy)
The stamps featuring naval vessels included ships from the modern Yugoslav Navy (Jugoslavenska ratna mornarica – JRM) and a historical vessel:
- G-4 Super Galeb (Jet Trainer): An image of the G-4 Super Galeb, a domestically developed jet trainer and light attack aircraft, was featured on one of the denominations in the air component, representing the then-modern Yugoslav Air Force. (Note: While it is an aircraft, it is often grouped with the set for the Air Force component).
- Armed Tug and/or “Rade Končar” Missile Gunboat: The naval stamps feature vessels like a Tugboat used during the war and the modern “Rade Končar” class missile boat (RTOP-401), which represented the modern Yugoslav Navy.
This set is a popular issue for collectors of militaria, aviation, and naval themes, as well as those specializing in Yugoslav philately.
