Yugoslavia – Serbia stamps year 1993 Definitive Issues set MNH
The definitive issues for Yugoslavia (Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, comprising Serbia and Montenegro) in 1993 are primarily associated with the ongoing hyperinflation of the Yugoslav Dinar during that period, leading to numerous issues and overprints with constantly rising denominations.
There appear to be a few significant definitive sets and overprinted issues related to 1993:
1. Definitive Issues (January 1993)
This set featured images related to Musical Instruments, the Coat of Arms, and a Monastery.
- It was originally a set of 11 stamps, some of which were overprinted versions of earlier issues.
- Denominations were in Dinars (Din).
2. Later Definitive/Overprinted Issues (June and Onward)
Due to the extreme inflation, several overprinted sets were issued during 1993, often using existing definitive stamps with new, much higher denominations.
- A set issued in June 1993 featured the same themes (Musical Instruments, Coat of Arms, and Monastery) but with different and higher denominations, such as 5000 Din, 10000 Din, and 30000 Din.
- Another issue was a Registered Mail stamp (marked ‘R’) in a block of four with different perforations, dated 1993.
3. Definitive Issues of the Republic of Serbian Krajina (RSK)
It is important to note that the region of Serbian Krajina (in what is now Croatia) also issued its own definitive set in 1993, which featured the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Serbian Krajina (a two-headed eagle). These stamps are sometimes confused with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia issues.
