Yugoslavia Kingdom 1937 stamps Prince Tomislav and Andrej MNH set
Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia was born on January 19, 1928, as the younger son of King Alexander I of Yugoslavia and his wife, Queen Maria. His full name was Prince Tomislav Karađorđević. He was the younger brother of Crown Prince Peter, who later became King Peter II of Yugoslavia.
Prince Tomislav was born during the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, which existed from 1918 to 1941. He was a member of the Karađorđević dynasty, which ruled Yugoslavia during this period. However, the kingdom was dissolved during World War II, and Yugoslavia was subsequently occupied by Axis powers.
After the war, Yugoslavia was reconstituted as a socialist federation under the leadership of Josip Broz Tito. The monarchy was abolished, and the Karađorđević family went into exile. Prince Tomislav and his family lived in various countries during their exile, including the United Kingdom and the United States.
Prince Andrej of Yugoslavia, born on July 28, 1929, was the younger brother of Prince Tomislav. Like his brother, he was a member of the Karađorđević dynasty and lived in exile following the abolition of the monarchy in Yugoslavia.
Both Prince Tomislav and Prince Andrej remained active in various activities related to the Yugoslav royal family and maintained connections with other members of European royalty. However, they did not play significant roles in the political developments of Yugoslavia after the monarchy was abolished.
In later years, Prince Tomislav lived primarily in the United Kingdom, where he passed away on July 12, 2000. Prince Andrej passed away on January 7, 1990, in Santa Barbara, California, United States. They are remembered as members of the former Yugoslav royal family who lived through significant historical events during the 20th century.
