Umm al Qiwain stamps year 1972 Airmail – Flowers – Size: 46 x 33 mm S/S MNH

Umm al-Qaiwain, one of the former Trucial States and now one of the emirates within the United Arab Emirates, issued numerous postage stamps with Flowers as a central theme.

During the period before the formation of the UAE and in the early years after, Umm al-Qaiwain (like other Trucial States) had a prolific stamp issuing program, often creating stamps specifically for the thematic collecting market. As such, you’ll find a wide variety of “Flowers” or “Flora” issues from Umm al-Qaiwain.

Some examples include:

  • 1972 Flowers/Roses: There are sets and sheets from 1972 specifically featuring various roses and other flowers. These often come in perforated and imperforate versions, and sometimes even as 3D (plastic surface) stamps, reflecting some of the more unusual issues from that era.
  • Flower Paintings: Some issues depicted famous flower paintings.
  • General Floral Themes: Many sets simply portrayed a variety of beautiful flowers without a specific botanical series name.

These stamps are generally available as Mint Never Hinged (MNH) and sometimes as CTO (Cancelled to Order)
