Context
The EUROPA CEPT program aims to build closer relations between European postal administrations and promote philately by issuing stamps with a common theme. The 2002 “Circus” theme was one of the more visually dynamic and colorful issues of the series.
The stamp is significant as it belongs to the period when Slovenia was preparing to join the European Union (which happened in 2004) and was still using the Slovenian Tolar (SIT) before adopting the Euro in 2007.
