Serbia year 2020 EUROPA Stamps – Birds – Endangered National Wildlife Unused MNH
The Serbia 2021 EUROPA stamps were issued on May 12, 2021, and featured the theme “Endangered National Wildlife,” specifically highlighting two endangered bird species in Serbia.
The two stamps in the issue depict:
- Saker Falcon (Falco cherrug): This is a globally threatened species, and in Serbia, it holds the status of a strictly protected species with only about 40 breeding pairs at the time of issue.
- (Face Value: 30 Serbian dinars)
- Shore Lark (or Horned Lark) (Eremophila alpestris): While not globally threatened, this species is classified as locally threatened in Serbia, primarily due to habitat loss and global warming.
- (Face Value: 85 Serbian dinars)
The artistic realization of the issue was the work of MA Marija Vlahović, an academic graphic artist, with expert collaboration from Dr. Marko Raković of the Natural History Museum in Belgrade.
