📮 Serbia / Serbia & Montenegro Postage Stamps (2004)

In 2004, Serbia (then in postal union with Montenegro as Serbia & Montenegro) issued commemorative stamps marking the 200th anniversary of the First Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire (1804–1813).

🪙 Commemorative Stamp Set – Serbian Rebellion – 200 Years

  • Date of Issue: 13 February 2004
  • Theme: 200th Anniversary of the First Serbian Uprising
  • Stamps in Set:
    • RS007.04 & RS008.04 – These two stamps were specifically issued to commemorate the bicentennial of the First Serbian Uprising (Prvi srpski ustanak).
  • Design / Motif:
    • The issue visually commemorates the historic uprising against Ottoman rule that began in 1804 and ultimately led to the establishment of modern Serbian autonomy.
    • One of the stamps typically depicts Karađorđe Petrović (often known as Karageorge), the leader of the uprising, or symbols associated with the revolt (such as revolutionary flags and historic motifs).

These stamps are collected both for their historic significance and as part of Serbia’s early modern postal history (Serbia began issuing its own stamps again in the 2000 s after re-establishing national postal issues following the breakup of Yugoslavia).
