Kosovo postage stamps year 2016 Mountain Tourism – Joint Issue with Macedonia MNH

The Kosovo postage stamps for 2016 on the theme of “Mountain Tourism” were issued as a Joint Issue with Macedonia (now North Macedonia) and highlighted natural beauty and ski resorts along the shared mountain range.

The series, issued on March 23, 2016, features:

Sharr Mountains (Bjeshkët e Sharrit): The main focus of the joint issue was the beauty of the Sharr Mountains (also known as the Šar Mountains), which lie on the border between Kosovo and North Macedonia.

Brezovica: One of the stamps/souvenir sheets specifically depicts the Brezovica ski resort, a well-known destination for winter tourism located on the slopes of the Sharr Mountains in Kosovo.

Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park / Boga: A separate, related issue from 2016 also features “Turizmi Malor Boga” (Mountain Tourism Boga), referring to the Boga area in the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park (Accursed Mountains), a major tourism spot in western Kosovo.

The joint issue was intended to promote mountain tourism in both countries, showcasing the Brezovica resort in Kosovo and the Sun Hill (Kodra e Diellit) ski resort in Macedonia.
