Isle of Man stamps year 1984 Military aircraft Mint never hinged
The Isle of Man stamp set issued in 1984 did not primarily feature a set of “Military Aircraft.” Instead, the main aviation-themed set that year was issued on April 27, 1984, to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of ICAO and the 50th Anniversary of the First Official Airmail Service to the Isle of Man.
This set focused on historical civil aviation aircraft that served the Isle of Man. It contained five stamps featuring the following aircraft:
| Denomination | Aircraft | Context |
| 8p | De Havilland D.H. 84 Dragon Mk. 2 (G-ACXI) | Railway Air Services, over Ronaldsway Airport |
| 12p | De Havilland D.H. 86A Dragon Express (G-ADVJ) | Blackpool and West Coast Air Services Ltd., over Calf of Man |
| 26p | Douglas DC-3 (G-AGZB) | British European Airways (BEA) |
| 31p | Vickers Viscount 806 (G-APIM) | British European Airways (BEA), over Douglas |
| 34p | Britten-Norman BN-2A-27 Islander (G-AXXH) | Telair Manchester Ltd., over Ronaldsway Airport |
However, a commemorative first day cover for this issue did feature a military aircraft: a silk cachet on one of the covers paid tribute to the Supermarine Spitfire, which is described as “unquestionably the world’s most famous military fighter aircraft of WWII.”
