Great Britain stamps year 1964 International Botanical Congress, Edinburgh MNH
Great Britain issued a set of four commemorative stamps on August 5, 1964, to mark the Tenth International Botanical Congress held in Edinburgh.
The stamps featured beautiful floral designs by Michael and Sylvia Goaman, each depicting a different plant, and were issued in the following denominations and colors:
| Denomination | Plant Depicted | Color | Stanley Gibbons (SG) Catalog No. (Ordinary) |
| 3d (threepence) | Spring Gentian (or Bluebells, depending on source interpretation of early designs, but usually listed as Gentian) | Purple | SG 655 |
| 6d (sixpence) | Dog Rose | Red | SG 656 |
| 9d (ninepence) | Honeysuckle | Green | SG 657 |
| 1s 3d (one shilling and threepence) | Fringed Water Lily | Blue | SG 658 |
The stamps were printed by photogravure by Harrison & Son and were available in both ordinary and phosphor versions.
These stamps are a popular issue among collectors for their attractive, naturalistic designs. They are commonly available as a complete set, in MNH (Mint Never Hinged) condition, or on a First Day Cover (FDC).
