Germany Third Reich year 1935 – German trains stamps set
The Germany Third Reich train stamps set from 1935 was issued on July 10, 1935, to commemorate 100 years of German railways. This set includes four stamps designed by Karl Diebitsch, each depicting a different locomotive or rail vehicle:
- 6 Pfennig: “The Eagle” locomotive (black green)
- 12 Pfennig: Series 03 Express Locomotive (brownish carmine)
- 25 Pfennig: “The Flying Hamburger” express rail car (lilac ultramarine)
- 40 Pfennig: Streamline Express Locomotive 05 001 (blackish lilac purple)
These stamps were produced on swastika watermarked paper with perforation K 14 and were valid throughout the end of 1936. There was no special postmark for the issue, but a special postmark was used for the related German Railway Exhibition in Nürnberg from July 14 to October 13, 1935. This set is commonly referred to as the “100 Years of German Railways” issue.
