The postage stamps featuring Johann Wolfgang von Goethe issued by Germany/Berlin in 1949 were a set of three stamps commemorating the 200th anniversary of his birth (August 28, 1749).
The set (Michel number 61-63, Scott number 9N61-63) consists of three different denominations:
- 10 Pfennig (pf.)
- 20 Pfennig (pf.)
- 30 Pfennig (pf.)
The 20 Pfennig stamp, which is often referenced, features a portrait of Goethe with an illustration of Faust in the background.
