DDR Stamps 1968 – Art / Famous Paintings from Dresden Gallery MNH**
That is another excellent choice from the German Democratic Republic’s (DDR) famous philatelic series dedicated to the Dresden Old Masters Picture Gallery (Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister).
The 1968 issue (released on April 16, 1968) was one of several sets the DDR used to showcase the masterpieces housed in the restored Zwinger palace.

| 1383 | 10 Pf | Portrait of a Girl | Unknown (Spanish Master, 17th Century) |
| 1384 | 20 Pf | The Bath of Diana (Diana im Bade) | Jan van Balen (Flemish) |
| 1385 | 25 Pf | Portrait of Elector Johann Georg I | Lucas Cranach the Younger (German) |

Comparison to Other Dresden Art Sets
- 1955 Series: Commemorated the return of masterpieces from the Soviet Union, featuring highly famous works like Raphael’s Sistine Madonna and Liotard’s Chocolate Girl.
- 1976 Series: Featured works by Murillo, Vermeer (The Girl with the Glass of Wine), and Terborch.
The 1968 set, while perhaps featuring less universally famous names than the 1955 and 1976 issues, remains a beautifully designed set that highlights the depth of the Dresden collection across Flemish, Dutch, and German masters.
