Janica Kostelić is a former Croatian alpine ski racer who competed in the 1990s and 2000s. She was born on January 5, 1982, in Zagreb, Croatia. Kostelić is considered one of the greatest alpine skiers in history, particularly in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom.
Throughout her career, Kostelić achieved numerous successes and milestones. She won a total of four Olympic gold medals, all of which came in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. These victories included gold medals in the slalom, giant slalom, and combined events. Additionally, she won a silver medal in the combined event at the same Olympics.
In addition to her Olympic success, Kostelić also excelled in the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. She won the overall World Cup title in the 2000-2001 season, becoming the first skier from Croatia to achieve this feat. She also won multiple World Championship medals during her career.
