Bosnia year 2011 Medjugorje stamps MSS MNH
Medjugorje is a town located in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, near the border with Croatia. It gained international attention due to reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary, which began on June 24, 1981, when six children claimed to have seen an apparition of the Virgin Mary on the hill of Crnica.
Since then, millions of pilgrims from around the world have visited Medjugorje, drawn by the reported apparitions and messages of the Virgin Mary. The reported messages include calls for prayer, fasting, reconciliation, peace, and conversion.
However, it’s essential to note that the reported apparitions at Medjugorje are a subject of controversy within the Catholic Church. While many believers see Medjugorje as a site of spiritual renewal and healing, others remain skeptical or critical, and the Catholic Church has not officially recognized the reported apparitions as supernatural.
Despite the lack of official recognition, Medjugorje continues to attract pilgrims and tourists, with numerous religious sites and attractions in the area, including St. James Church, where many of the reported apparitions have taken place, as well as sites for prayer, reflection, and spiritual retreats.
