The Herzegovina uprising of 1875–77, also known as the Hercegovački ustanak in Serbo-Croatian and Cyrillic as Херцеговачки устанак, was a significant rebellion led by ethnic Serbs against the Ottoman Empire. It began primarily in Herzegovina and later spread into Bosnia, making it the most notable of the uprisings against Ottoman rule in Herzegovina.

The uprising was triggered by the oppressive treatment inflicted by the Ottoman provincial authorities, known as beys and aghas, particularly towards the Christian subjects. Despite reforms announced by Sultan Abdülmecid I aimed at granting new rights to Christian subjects, restructuring army conscription, and abolishing the despised tax-farming system, these reforms were either resisted or disregarded by the influential Bosniak landowners. Instead, they intensified repressive measures against their Christian subjects, leading to growing discontent among the Christian peasants who faced increasing tax burdens.

The rebels received support in the form of weapons and volunteers from the neighboring Principalities of Montenegro and Serbia. Eventually, both Montenegro and Serbia declared war on the Ottoman Empire on June 18, 1876, leading to the Serbo-Turkish War (1876–78) and the Montenegrin–Ottoman War (1876–78). These conflicts, in turn, contributed to the broader Russo-Turkish War (1877–78) and the Great Eastern Crisis.

The uprisings and subsequent wars had significant diplomatic ramifications, culminating in the Berlin Congress of 1878. This congress granted Montenegro and Serbia independence and additional territory, while Austria-Hungary assumed control of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a period of 30 years, although it remained nominally under Ottoman sovereignty.
