The Kočerin Stone Tablet is an archaeological treasure from Bosnia and Herzegovina. It dates back to the year 1404 and is one of the most significant medieval stone inscriptions written in an old script known as bosančica (or Croatian Latin alphabet). The tablet was originally placed as a footer on a standing tombstone in the cemetery of Vignja Milošević on the Lipovac necropolis, which is approximately 1 kilometer west of the present-day village of Kočerin. Kočerin itself is situated about 9 kilometers from Široki Brijeg along the main road to Posušje1.
Additionally, in 2007, Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a stamp featuring the Ethnological Treasure theme, which includes the Kocerin Stone Tablet. The stamp celebrates the material, social, and spiritual heritage of the Croatian people through various ethnological treasures. If you’re interested in collecting stamps, this one might be a fascinating addition to your collection!
