Bosnia year 2004 Football – Euro cup in Portugal stamp
The 2004 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2004, was indeed held in Portugal. It was the 12th edition of the UEFA European Championship, a quadrennial international football tournament organized by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) for the men’s national teams of Europe.
Euro 2004 took place from June 12 to July 4, 2004, with matches held in various cities across Portugal, including Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Faro-Loulé, Braga, and Aveiro. The tournament featured 16 teams competing in a total of 31 matches.
Greece emerged as the surprise winners of Euro 2004, defeating the hosts Portugal 1-0 in the final held at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon. Angelos Charisteas scored the only goal of the match in the 57th minute, securing Greece’s first-ever major international title in football. It was a historic and unexpected victory for Greece, as they had never progressed beyond the group stage in their previous European Championship appearances.
