🗓️ Issue Background

  • These stamps were issued 20 November 1944 in Muscat (then part of the Sultanate of Muscat & Oman).
  • They mark the 200th anniversary of the Al-Busaid Dynasty, the ruling royal house of Oman.
  • The stamps were originally Indian King George VI definitives (1940–43), overprinted in Arabic script with “AL BUSAID 1363” for use in Muscat postal offices. These were printed in Karachi.
