Serbia postage stamps year 2009 Fauna Protected Animals MNH set
The Serbia postage stamp issue for “Fauna – Protected Animal Species” in 2009 featured four different mammal species that are considered rare or protected in Serbia.
The four animals depicted on the stamps were:
- Stoat / Hermelin (Mustela erminea)
- Eurasian Harvest Mouse / Patuljasti miš (Micromys minutus)
- Southern Birch Mouse / Stepski skočimiš (Sicista subtilis)
- The fourth mammal is not consistently named in the snippets, but the set generally featured four “Protected Animal Species” (Mammals). Based on the number of stamps in the series, the set was comprised of four stamps issued as a series with two different denominations (22 dinars $\times 2$ and 46 dinars $\times 2$).
Note: There was a separate issue in 2009 on the theme of “European Nature Protection” featuring the Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus) which is also a protected species, but the dedicated “Protected Animal Species” series focused on the small mammals.
