Serbia stamps year 2022 Anniversary of the Birth of Peter the Great – Peter I Unused MNH
The Serbian Post (Pošte Srbije) issued a commemorative set of stamps in 2022 to mark the 350th Anniversary of the Birth of Peter the Great (Peter I, Tsar and first Emperor of Russia).

Stamp Motifs
The two commemorative stamps featured different portraits of the Russian Emperor:
- Stamp 1: A portrait of Peter the Great painted by academic painter Boban Savić.
- Stamp 2: An oil on canvas portrait of the Emperor, titled The Portrait of the Emperor Peter the Great (18th century), which is kept in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
The vignettes (non-postage labels in the stamp sheet) and the First Day Cover (FDC) highlighted his connection to Serbia:
- Vignette Motifs: Fragments from Peter I’s decree concerning the sending of Russian teachers to Serbia, which led to the establishment of the first Serbian school in Sremski Karlovci in 1726.
- FDC Motif: Artwork from a 1941 comic about Peter the Great, which was published in the popular Serbian magazine Politikin zabavnik.
