Swaziland year 1961 10c / 1 MNH stamp

1961 Swaziland 10c postage stamp, based on my knowledge as of August 2023:

In 1961, Swaziland was a British protectorate. That year, a series of definitive postage stamps were issued featuring a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The 10c (10 cent) denomination stamp from this series would have been printed with the inscription “SWAZILAND” and the denomination “10c”.

The stamp was likely printed in a single color on white paper and featured an engraved or photogravure portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth facing left or right, in the style typical of British Commonwealth stamp designs of that era.

1961 was an important year for Swaziland as a new constitution was introduced that year which led to self-government, although the country did not gain full independence from Britain until 1968.

A 10c stamp would have been used commonly to mail letters and postcards within Swaziland and to neighboring countries in southern Africa at the time. The exact color and details of the design would require me to see an image of the specific stamp. Stamps from this early period in Swaziland’s postal history are collectible today.
