Prussia postage stamps year 1861/67 Used lot
The Prussian postage stamps issued between 1861 and 1867 represent the final regular definitive series before the formation of the North German Confederation in 1868.
This issue is commonly known as the “Coat of Arms and Pfennig/Silbergroschen” or “Eagle Issue” (referring to the central image).

1. The Silbergroschen (Sgr.) / Pfennig (Pfg.) Issues (1861-1866)

2. The Kreuzer (Kr.) Issue (1867)
In 1867, a final set was issued in Kreuzer currency for use in the newly annexed territories in the south (those that were formerly part of the Thurn and Taxis postal district, which used the Kreuzer currency system).

🛑 End of the Prussian Postal Era
These 1861-1867 stamps mark the conclusion of the independent Kingdom of Prussia’s postal history. On January 1, 1868, the stamps of the North German Confederation (Norddeutscher Postbezirk) officially replaced the stamps of Prussia and other northern German states.
