The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (SHS) issued stamps for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1919 by overprinting existing stamps of Bosnia and Herzegovina. There were two main issues:

A. Definitive issue

In 1919, stamps of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the issues of 1906, 1912, and 1916 were overprinted in black and red with the new country name in Latin (KRALJEVSTVO S.H.S) and Cyrillic (КРАЉЕВСТВО С.Х.С) scripts. These overprints exist with constant and coincidental varieties like inverted overprints, double overprints, shifted overprints, etc.

B. Postage dues

The 1916 charity issue for disabled veterans was also overprinted in black with the new country name in 1919. The 40 heller value has a constant variety with a thin numeral 4 in the denomination. Some notable varieties of these overprints include:

  • Inverted overprints
  • Double overprints
  • Shifted overprints
  • Colorless spots on the overprints

These overprinted stamps were used in Bosnia and Herzegovina until 1921 when definitive stamps of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes were issued
