Free Territory of Trieste as defined by the Treaty of Peace with Italy in 1947. After World War II, the Free Territory of Trieste was established as a separate territory under the administration of the United Nations, consisting of two zones: Zone A and Zone B.

Zone A was the smaller of the two zones and included the city of Trieste itself along with some surrounding territory. It was administered by the Allied Military Government (AMG) of the United States and the United Kingdom.

Zone B, on the other hand, was the larger portion of the Free Territory of Trieste and was administered by the Yugoslav military administration.

In 1954, the Free Territory of Trieste was dissolved, and the territory was divided between Italy and Yugoslavia. Zone A was eventually integrated into Italy, while Zone B became part of Yugoslavia (which later became Slovenia).

Today, Trieste is a city in northeastern Italy, located near the border with Slovenia. It is known for its cultural and historical significance, as well as its strategic location on the Adriatic Sea.
